From setting the table, to managing utensils and holding a conversation, this workshop will equip students with the confidence and savvy to dine in both the casual and formal settings-at home and at restaurants, as a host and as a guest. The workshop culminates with a meal and the opportunity to put dining skills to use.

 

Topics include:

  • mealtime manners (casual vs. formal)
  • setting the table
  • managing utensils-American versus Continental dining styles
  • eating tricky foods like peas, spaghetti, etc.
  • managing glassware and making toasts
  • table do's and don'ts
  • ordering efficiently
  • family-style dining 
  • eating “finger food” with a fork and knife
  • host/ guest behavior 
  • technology at the table
