program description:

mini boot-camp: In this comprehensive workshop, boys and girls learn lessons in vital life skills such as proper greetings and introductions, good body language, respect and consideration, applying thoughtfulness in life and good phone skills. Tweenz will also learn valuable lessons on independence, engaging in conversations, exuding confidence, and the importance of being Internet savvy and safe.  Through engaging games, role playing and activities, children learn the basics (and importance) of good social skills. Children receive a Life Skills Passport and are given a stamp for each skill set successfully learned.   This workshop is 2 ½ hours long and includes a healthy snack.

lunch & learn:  During this interactive lunch lesson, students will learn the best practices for dining, including dining do’s and don’t’s, arranging proper place settings, and healthy eating habits.  A nutrition specialist from the Mando Group NY will guide students in learning the essentials of how to eat including quantity of food and speed of consumption using a computerized feedback device. 

advanced workshop: This workshop is for those who have completed the socialsklz:-) basic workshop series or mini boot-camp (same day qualifies). Students will learn how to act in a variety of public settings using a socialsklz:-) checklist.  kidz lessons will include the importance of social order (staying to the right, waiting on line, not blocking sidewalks), how to order and interact with a salesperson and how to behave in a theatre/at the movies.  tweenz lessons will also include how to manage money and tip (when tipping is necessary), how to order movie tickets and prepare for a movie excursion (organization and timeliness), and how to critique a film in a thoughtful way.  Students apply their skills at a movie theatre setting and will watch a film as a group.
